Walter Collins was born in 1885 to William & Elizabeth Collins (nee O’Hara) at Railway Cottages, Whitacre Heath, Warwickshire. To get Work, the family moved to Birmingham and lived at 15 Dollman Street, William was a Railway man. Walter was a worker at Metropolitan Cammell and even did a stint as a Nightwatchman.
Walters bride to be was ‘May Roe’ from 17 Crawford Street, Saltley, she was the daughter of Edward Roe and Martha Annie (nee Williams).
They married and had 9 children: Patrick, Bert, William, Victor, Lesley, Nellie, Ivy, Alice and Edie.
Over the years, Walter and May lived at number 5 Metropolitan Road, Saltley, and Watson Road, Alum Rock, Birmingham.
